Beyond Happy: Women, Work, and Well-Being

For women the complexities and increased pressures of trying to combine their growing role in the workplace with their essential role at home can negatively affect their well-being. In the workplace, women continue to face gender discrimination, along with unrealistic expectations and a lack of support from those they work for and with. Neither societal norms nor work models have kept up with women's evolving roles.

Beyond Happy: Women, Work, and Well-Being provides women with strategies based on the latest research in positive psychology, which they can use to enhance their well-being. Readers will learn about three key elements that will enable them to thrive people, peace of mind, and purpose and discover why these elements are important for well-being.

For more than a decade, Dr. Beth Cabrera has surveyed and interviewed over a thousand women to gain insight into how they've balanced their careers and their family responsibilities. She asked women about the strategies they employed to manage the challenges they faced, practices they used to help minimize stress and find happiness in their lives, and how they've been able to flourish, despite being pulled in so many directions.
