Chairman's Message
Reinventing your chamber - and communicating it
In this economic “reset,” has your chamber needed to reinvent itself by streamlining your focus, dropping or spinning off programs or even adding new ones to stay relevant?
How have you communicated those changes to your audiences?
This question has been on my mind since the last conference call for the ACCE Communications Division Advisory Team. We discussed it as part of the communications program planning for this year’s convention, being held August 4-7 in Milwaukee.
Even though it’s only March, I’d like to get the conversation going about reinvention and communication. Hopefully, it will provide some fodder for all of us in the upcoming months, leading up to the opportunity to talk and share ideas in-person in August. I started a discussion in our LinkedIn Communications and Marketing Group. Examples, samples, best practices, roadblocks and questions about what to do –all are all welcome!
I look forward to hearing what you have to say.

Overcoming Your Facebook Fears
by Jeff Sabo
Facebook is growing into one of the most popular forms of social media. As Facebook has become easier to use, everyone from high school kids to adults are joining the phenomenon.
I’ve personally been a Facebook user since my days in college and now use the social media site to keep in touch with friends and relatives. Facebook is now one of the best ways for me to send e-mails, give a quick “hello” to someone, and, being an avid photographer, a way to share the pictures I take online. Spending time on Facebook helps me to unwind from a long day and stay connected to the people I care about.
