This assessment serves as a chamber’s self-diagnostic tool to identify its strengths and opportunities to engage or amplify efforts in education and workforce development efforts (a) along the cradle to career spectrum (early childhood education, K-12, post-secondary education, and/or workforce development) and (b) within programs, policy, systems reform, and/or messaging/communications. The Education Attainment Division also utilizes information gathered from the assessments to offer chambers a tailored consultation, peer-to-peer connections, resources and other strategic planning support- which can include the support of the EAD’s Advisory Board members and consultants- to advance their education and workforce development efforts. ACCE's Education Attainment Division launched a competitive awards program in 2014 to recognize chambers of commerce that have demonstrated momentum in setting education attainment agendas and established innovative postsecondary attainment goals and strategies. The program includes a one-time $40,000 stimulus award to accelerate selected chambers' existing efforts to grow the number of individuals in their communities with postsecondary degrees and other high quality credentials. This effort aims to expand and deepen their work as well as share successes to build replicable and scalable practices among ACCE's membership. In addition to flexible funding, winning chambers receive technical and planning assistance and access to a powerful network of national thought-leaders, which provide guidance as they expand their postsecondary success initiatives.

In Spring 2014, ACCE launched its inaugural cohort of Fellows. This fellowship assists chamber executives and senior staff as they mobilize efforts to improve the birth-to-career education pipeline in their communities. Selected executives will engage in an education and workforce development deep dive involving best practices in education attainment, case studies of successes and failures, interaction with national experts and building a strong peer-to-peer network. Throughout, fellows will be developing and executing plans for specific educational attainment objectives.

The Regional Innovation Award (RIA) recognizes organizations and alliances that are committed to building strong and vibrant communities through groundbreaking collaboration and program development. In 2014, the Education Attainment Division began actively promoting the award and encouraging applications that focus on education and workforce development initiatives. The award now encompasses a category that celebrates regional initiatives that are promoting an innovative economy by building a better equipped workforce - preparing the region to excel in a globally competitive economy through education attainment and workforce development. The award is presented annually at the ACCE Convention.
