Creatively Cool in Detroit
Detroit, MI -
"The young professional generation can make many choices today," said Tammy Carnrike, COO of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, "They can go anywhere to work and live." So why stay in the Motor City? One of the biggest reasons has to be that the chamber, city and state leaders are mounting a concerted effort to transform the city into a "hip hangout." Integral to those efforts is the state's Cool Cities Initiative, designed to draw young talent to the state (and stem the young 'brain drain'). As part of that initiative, Detroit will host the Creative Cities Summit, a mid-fall event which "could attract up to 500 academics, politicians, artists and business leaders," according to organizers.
