Fleming is Featured Speaker at Paducah Annual Meeting
ACCE President Mick Fleming traveled to Paducah, Ky., Jan. 19 for the 73rd annual meeting of the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce. Fleming served as the evening’s featured speaker and formally presented the chamber with its 2011 Chamber of the Year award. Paducah won the award in the $450,001 to $900,000 budget category. Strong financial numbers, membership retention and performing well in a face-to-face interview session all contributed to the chamber’s big win.
“The stuff that this chamber has done, especially with downtown development and cultural development, is outstanding. They have been models,” Fleming said. He went on to stress the competitive and intensive nature of the association’s award process. Fleming also congratulated Paducah Area Chamber President Elaine Spalding and her staff for pulling off what can be most difficult about running a regional chamber. “Good chamber executives can make members happy but they also have to lead in the community. Leading both is the challenge, and when a chamber pulls it off, it’s special.”
